optimal performance mix 3-5 % of Aka-Cool with water.

Aka-NoFoam

Anti-foaming agent for recirculation cooling unit.

Mix 0.5-1.0 % of Aka-NoFoam with water.

MOUNTING

Mounting provides protection/support of the sample surface and edges, makes it easier to handle the sample, allows for several small samples in one mount and gives uniform sizes for clamping in a sample holder.  cold mounting and hot mounting systems are available.                                                                    Picture

HOT MOUNTING

Epoxy

Black mineral-filled epoxy resin for hot mounting. Provides the best possible embedding result with low shrinkage and best edge retention.

Melamine ( mineral Filled)

White mineral-filled melamine resin for hot mounting. For universal mounting with low shrinkage. Great for hardness testing due to the contrast the white color provides.

Acrylic

Thermoplastic acrylic compound for clear embedding with low shrinkage. Clear mounts are optimal in for example failure analysis.

Black Phenolic-  Phenolic SEM

Black phenolic resin for hot mounting. The most economic embedding choice. Ideal for back-filling when working with more expensive resins like Aka-Resin Epoxy.

Conductive black phenolic resin for hot mounting – recommended for SEM work.

Cold Mounting

Epoxy Mounting

Our cold mounting epoxy system consists of one liquid epoxy resin and a series of liquid epoxy hardeners.

It can also be used for vacuum impregnation of fragile and porous samples

Acrylic Powder & Hardener

Aka-Clear-2 consists of an acrylic powder and an acrylic liquid that cures in 8 minutes.

Aka-Clear-2 is ideal for failure analysis and in the preparation of electronic components

PLANE GRINDING (Magnetic & SiC)

Aka-Piatto

For fast plane grinding of all types of materials, our diamond grinding discs Aka-Piatto and Aka-Piatto+ are the perfect choice. With their unique wear compensating surface design they guarantee a very long lifetime and continuously high material removal. Furthermore, due to being on a thin, rigid steel plate, optimum planeness and edge retention are guaranteed. One Aka-Piatto can replace 200-300 pieces of regular grinding paper, which makes it very cost-effective. The Aka-Piatto+ has been developed as the ideal diamond grinding disc for brittle samples. The “+” indicates twice the diamond concentration of the normal Aka-Piatto. This results in a lower specific pressure during grinding and thereby less aggressive abrasion, a must when grinding brittle and fragile materials. Twice the diamond concentration also doubles the lifetime of the Aka-Piatto+.

Aka-Allergan

Aka-Allegran, available in 4 different versions, is recommended for fine grinding of metals and other materials that are harder than 150 HV.

Aka-Allegran 9 provides perfect planeness and edge retention. It is the hardest of our grinding discs and recommended for materials harder than 450 HV. It can replace grinding papers P320-P1200. Aka-Allegran 9 should be used with diamond suspension 15 – 3 µm.

Aka-Allegran 6 is the most universal disc in the range. It is the correct choice when an optimal balance between material removal and fine surface finish is required. Aka-Allegran 6 provides fast fine grinding of most materials with a hardness of above 150 HV. It is recommended to be used with 9 – 3 µm diamonds. It will replace the traditional grinding steps from P320 – P1200 with one single step.

Aka-Allegran 3 provides short preparation times, completely plane samples and retains soft phases (e.g. soft inclusions in steel). It is a medium hard disc that is recommended for materials harder than 150 HV. It replaces grinding papers in grit sizes P320-P1200. This grinding disc should be used with diamond suspension 9 – 3 µm.

Aka-Allegran 1 provides eminent flatness. This is the softest disc in the range and recommended for materials harder than 150 HV. This disc should be used with diamond suspension 1 – 0.1 µm. Aka-Allegran 1 can also be used for final polishing of very hard materials and coatings.

Aka- Racho SIC Paper

Our high-quality grinding paper Rhaco Grit can be used for plane grinding of all types of materials. However, it is the best choice for grinding soft and ductile materials. Rhaco Grit provides a long lifetime as well as good planeness and edge retention. Rhaco Grit P120-P320 is recommended for plane grinding. These grit sizes are based on Al2O3 which means that the lifetime is 2-3 times longer, providing at least 100% higher material removal compared to regular SiC Paper.

Aka-Polishing Cloths

Our unique Aka-Rhaco is a thin steel disc with a soft polymer coating that can be used with self-adhesive polishing cloths. Without removing the liner from the polishing cloth it can be attached to an Aka-Rhaco disc. When the polishing cloth is worn, it can easily be replaced with a new one. Instead of disposing of a metal backed polishing cloth every time it is worn, a self-adhesive polishing cloth can be used on Aka-Rhaco.

Diamond Suspensions

Aka Poly Diamond Suspensions

Aka-Poly and Aka-Mono offer a very high concentration of 20 ct/liter – probably higher than any other product on the market. If you require very fast preparation, you should choose Aka-Poly+ or Aka-Mono+ with an even higher concentration. Containing 40 ct/liter, the preparation time can be reduced with up to 50%.

Both types of diamond suspension can be used with any of our lubricants for the preparation of all kinds of materials. The suspensions will not settle and the liquid itself is naturally environmentally friendly. That means that no special care has to be taken when disposing of the suspensions during or after the preparation.

Sample Preparation Method

Aka-Brief is a preparation method with all the parameters for the individual preparation steps.

In addition, a micrograph is shown with the expected preparation result after each step.
This makes it possible for you to determine whether the individual steps have been successfully completed or if something needs to change.

There are two different types of preparation methods: Specific Methods for certain materials and General Methods for a range of materials based on their hardness. All methods are carefully optimized to provide the best possible quality at the lowest possible cost.
